The Effects of Fintechs on the Financial Performance: An Empirical Study Based on Moroccan Innovative Companies
摘要
Financial technologies have received considerable attention from academics, practitioners and regulators. In this context, our paper aims to empirically investigate the impact of fintechs on the financial performance of Moroccan innovative companies. This study is based on empirical data collected from a survey of 110 innovative companies. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling is used to test our proposed relationships based on primary data collected from managers active in these companies. The findings show that the mobile payment has a significant positive effect on the financial performance. Moreover, the results also show that the Crowdfunding platform has a significant positive effect on the financial performance. In addition, e-banking has significant effect on financial performance. However, hypothesis regarding the effet of Peer-to-Peer lending platform on financial performance was not supported. Furthermore, the results show that the control variable ‘age of the company’ has no significant impact on the financial performance of innovative companies. This is one of the first study to empirically test a greatly developed theoretical model in the Moroccan context.
