Cryosurgery is a technique where tissue gets destroyed by subzero temperatures. Besides the biopsy taken to confirm the diagnosis, no evidence of the histological nature or evaluation of margin remains. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that the diagnosis of the malignancy about to be destroyed is confirmed and we do a follow-up to confirm that the treated area is free of residual tumor. Follow-up after a noninvasive technique is suggested 3 months postoperative to allow inflammation and residual tumor to disappear. Noninvasive techniques like dermoscopy, High-freuqency ultrasound (HFUS), optical coherence tomography (OCT)/line-field-OCT, or confocal microscopy aid in reaching that goal. High-frequency ultrasound (22 MHz) will give information on shape and volume of the native tumor and possible residual tumor.
