Cryosurgery for Malignant Lesions
摘要
The use of cryosurgery in skin cancer has stood the test of time. After demonstrating results in large tumors in the elderly, it has continued gaining a deserved space among the different treatment options for NMSC and lentigo maligna. Excellent cure rates, cosmetic results, and low cost of the procedure, as well as the possibility to treat numerous lesions in one session, make this technique particularly advantageous over others. Lack of randomized controlled trials with long follow-up and the need for a standardized and reproducible technique not solely dependent on experience have not helped when compared to other alternative treatments. New developments in combination/neoadjuvant therapies are opening new and exciting possibilities.
