Language as a Macro-Level Driver of International Student Mobility
摘要
A myriad of factors, from geographical proximity to the quality of education, can influence destination choices of international students. However, what role does language play among these factors? Language skills are of central importance for education abroad, as students use their language competences both within and beyond the university. This chapter examines how shared languages between home and destination countries, the most commonly used and studied languages, as well as linguistic proximity, impact international student flows.
