Global Guidelines for RFA
摘要
Minimally invasive thermal ablative techniques are seeing increasing adoption and application across a range of thyroid pathologies. A truly trans-disciplinary practice, thyroid ablation is performed by endocrinologists, radiologists, and surgeons. Many professional international organizations have responded to the subsequent need for the formulation of best clinical practices to ensure responsible dissemination. This chapter reviews and summarizes recommendations from available guidelines and consensus statements addressing radiofrequency ablation (RFA), which is the most comprehensively studied ablative technology. The scope and methodology of current guidelines will be described. While many societies converge on numerous key concepts in patient selection, pre- and post-procedural evaluation, and technical execution, discrepancies are also highlighted to help understand variations in practice and areas in which professional guidance will likely continue to evolve.
