Also, the fauna of Iran with 72 recorded species within 7 genera is the most diverse among the Middle Eastern countries, followed by Turkey (28 species), Israel-Palestine (27 species), Saudi Arabia (24 species), Egypt (21 species), Yemen (8 species), Cyprus, Jordan, Lebanon (each with 2 species), Iraq, and Syria (1 species each).
