The Iranian Cryptinae includes 175 species and subspecies within 43 genera, ranking it as the most diverse among the Middle Eastern countries. Among the genera, Cryptus Fabricius, 1804, with 35 and 26 recorded species from the Middle East and Iran, respectively, is more species-rich than the other genera.
