The New Caledonia’s Shared Water Policy (la Politique de l’Eau Partagée or PEP) orientation plan is the result of a diagnosis shared with all the territory’s water stakeholders and of a process of inter-community co-construction. This chapter presents the main stages and proposals of the country’s first water policy, unanimously adopted by the Congress of New Caledonia in 2019. It also discusses the challenges and threats of the actual application of the Shared Water Policy.
