This chapter will critically look at the potential for artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technologies to revolutionize modern agriculture. This chapter will dig deeper into how different AI-based applications such as prediction analysis, precision farming, and automation could further help to increase crop yields while reducing resource wastages—issues that also plainly empower farmers through the advanced look at data analysis. While these tools introduce efficiency, they are also crucial for meeting the growing demand for sustainable and resilient farming. The contribution of blockchain technology to the pursuit of total transparency, full traceability, and efficiency along the value chain will also be discussed in parallel. By focusing on the two key features of blockchain, namely immutability and decentralization, the chapter will highlight how these come into play in relation to food safety, certification processes, and secure financial transactions. Some case studies are discussed in this chapter that will provide insight into how these innovations address critical challenges about the management of resources, environmental sustainability, and food security while availing practical guidelines to farmers, technologists, and policymakers on the use of effective technologies in diverse agricultural settings. The chapter also proposes an advanced framework which is currently under development known as “Agentic AI Workflow and Digital Twin to Orchestrate and Optimize Vertical Farming.” The purpose of this chapter is to present a point of view on the future through AI and blockchain integration in agriculture and how these technologies could work together to solve emerging challenges in the digital era.
