The healthcare system faces various issues related to many facets, which can directly be solved using blockchain technology. Improved security, transparency, and interoperability across different healthcare systems are made possible by its decentralized and unchangeable nature. One of the main applications of blockchain is having complete control over supply chains. Pertinent to mention that a complete entry of drugs from manufacturing to retail can substantially tackle the problem of duplicate/fake drugs. Another important facet of healthcare is Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and their exchange. Blockchain provides a subtle solution to allow for a secure and timely sharing of these records for medical professionals to make informed decisions and reduce mistakes. In the case of insurance claims, blockchain provides a trustworthy and quick solution to drill down the administrative burdens and sharing of related data. Smart contracts are programs that are triggered automatically after a criterion is fulfilled. These techniques are used to significantly bring down the delays. Secure and quick insurance claims benefit all stakeholders involved in the healthcare system, especially the patient and the insurer. In terms of making medical data sets available to public or sharing information for research purposes, blockchain can provide various solutions while making sure the adherence to regulatory laws like HIPAA. Albeit there are numerous practical applications of blockchain in healthcare system, however, integrating this advanced technology is still in its infancy and requires much attention and policies. This work provides various perspectives to integrating blockchain in healthcare.

In the case of insurance claims, blockchain provides a trustworthy and quick solution to drill down the administrative burdens and sharing of related data. Smart contracts are programs that are triggered automatically after a criterion is fulfilled. These techniques are used to significantly bring down the delays.
