Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to make significant and positive contributions to the field of healthcare—provided it is used responsibly. Responsible AI (RAI) is an emerging field that seeks to ensure that AI models operate ethically and to the benefit of individuals, societies, and environments. In this chapter, we contextualise the importance of responsibility and develop a synthesised definition of RAI based on a diverse collection of sources. We then examine how responsibility can be implemented at each stage of the AI pipeline in order to achieve RAI. Overall, our chapter provides a roadmap for understanding and implementing responsibility in AI research and development.

摘要
