This chapter describes the study’s purpose and methodology, which investigates the use of SSI in science education to improve students’ knowledge of the NOS and argumentation skills. Given the importance of SSI in promoting scientific literacy, the study focusses on including a variety of scenarios from biology, physics, environmental science, chemistry, and ethical dilemmas. The process entails doing a thorough search of scholarly resources, including Google Scholar and Shamaa, to identify relevant SSI scenarios that address real-world issues such as pollution and COVID-19 vaccination. These scenarios were divided into scientific fields and reviewed by six science instructors to guarantee clarity and applicability. By including students in discussions about these issues, the study aims to improve their critical thinking and decision-making skills while emphasizing the interconnectedness of science and society.
