Poverty and inequality are critical issues that significantly impact the trajectory of sustainable development. Poverty is a situation where an individual does not have enough financial resources and necessities to maintain a basic standard of living. The first Sustainable Development Goal (SDG1) is dedicated to “End poverty in all its forms everywhere.” This goal encompasses not only monetary poverty but also includes aspects such as access to basic services, ownership of assets, and vulnerability to disasters and environmental shocks.
