DemetrIA: An AI-Driven Process Mining Ecosystem for Efficient and Sustainable Manufacturing

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is an essential methodology for evaluating environmental impacts. Although this methodology is undoubtedly impactful, its implementation applied to production systems is often time consuming and risking failure to respond effectively to the dynamism of current production systems. Industry 4.0 technologies address these challenges by enabling real-time data acquisition and improving the adaptability of the Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) phase. Additionally, Process Mining (PM) can be applied to analyse and optimize production processes, supporting the key phases of the LCA and providing tools for the continuous LCA interpretation phase. This paper presents DemetrIA, an integrated ecosystem that enriches the combination of Industry 4.0 and PM with AI to enable efficient, dynamic and sustainable production. By streamlining LCA processes and supporting data-driven strategies, DemetrIA offers a transformative approach to aligning industrial practices with sustainability goals.
