Human Factors Influencing Australian Manufacturing SMEs’ Adoption of Collaborative Robots: A Qualitative Study
摘要
In the rapidly evolving industrial era, the adoption of collaborative robots, or cobots, in manufacturing environments has shown great potential. However, their widespread adoption among manufacturing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is still limited. This study aims to explore this knowledge gap by focusing on human factors related to collaborative robot adoption from the perspective of organisational decision-makers. Data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with ten top and mid-level managerial and technical decision-makers in Australian manufacturing SMEs. The findings reveal that innovativeness emerged as the most significant factor. The presence of a project champion was identified as the second influential factor. Interestingly, a new positive factor, employee capability, also emerged. Conversely, prior experience was found to have a relatively weak impact. The results contribute valuable insights to both academic literature and the practical in the field of collaborator robots.
