A Network-Based Selection Algorithm of an Energy-Efficient Succeeding Fog Node in the NBFC Model
摘要
For efficiently realizing the IoT (Internet of Things), we discuss a novel type of the FC (Fog Computing) model, an NBFC (Network-Based FC) model in this paper. In the FC model, sensor application processes are distributed to fog nodes as well as servers. Here, each fog node produces output data by executing application processes on input data received from preceding fog nodes and sends the output data to a succeeding fog node. In the NBFC model, each fog node autonomously decides which succeeding fog node to send the output data. We propose an ESF algorithm by which an energy-efficient succeeding fog node is selected. A fog node sends produced output data to a succeeding fog node selected in the EFS algorithm. In our previous studies on the NBFC model, fog nodes and application processes are homogeneous. In this paper, we consider heterogeneous fog nodes and processes. The EFS algorithm is evaluated in terms of the total energy consumption and number of fog nodes selected.
