This research embraced aspects of teaching machines and automated translation in universities. Machine translation has become a vital and essential part of today’s world, it is vital in society’s life, and is used in marketing, business communication, tourism, sale, network communication, and other fields. Meanwhile machine translation has become an important and essential tool in the work of professional translators promoting cost decrease and time saving. All these activities comprise enhancing economies which contributes to Sustainable Development. In this article, the authors aimed to study the ways and methods of teaching machine translation to university students. To achieve this aim the researchers used a set of research methods, i.e., cluster analysis, ranging method, and pedagogical experiment. The article covers peculiarities of a text to be translated, its post-editing and pre-editing. Besides, the authors also describe machine translation fields applicability and emphasize the necessity of its study to up-level professional competencies and ability to use innovative technologies in professional translation.
