These clinically accepted medical instruments and devices can provide the clinician with images of the human body that are not obtainable with previous techniques. The critical question is why, from the deluge of publications that offer potential clinical utility and efficacy, and safety for the patient, only a very small number of medical devices gain clinical acceptance and become widespread in hospitals and clinics?
