The Internet of Things is one of the most widely used terms today, especially when promoting the development of individuals, families, companies, and nations due to its vast expansion and capacity for continuously automating objects or devices from the Internet. The objective was to conduct a bibliographic review on IoT as a development tool in various fields such as domestic, business, health, education, agriculture, and other areas. The methodology was followed with the bibliographic search of reliable sources of repositories, journals indexed from Q1 to Q4, and also from the descriptive analysis of the information. As a result, it was obtained that the IoT is a tool that uses the internet to manage aspects of automation, and not only for the interaction between computer and user, from devices that fulfill tasks previously done manually. It is therefore concluded that IoT are tools that not only improve society’s quality of life by including automation using the internet but also collaborate in the increase in the use of digital devices, which makes companies more competitive, generates more significant economic benefits, and reduces unnecessary costs.
