Smart Factory Architecture, Infrastructure and Design of Manufacturing Systems Using Robotics
摘要
Manufacturing has been transformed by technological advancements such as Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, and Cloud Computing, resulting in Industry 4.0 and smart factories. An examination of the architecture and infrastructure of smart factories is presented in this chapter, emphasizing their integration with these advanced technologies. Industry 4.0’s smart factories increase productivity, flexibility, and quality through real-time data and autonomous systems. With short product life cycles, volatile demand, and customization requirements, modern manufacturing faces critical challenges. In addition to discussing the challenges of implementing smart factory systems, the chapter also discusses their modularity, adaptability, and real-time capabilities, along with their technological and economic challenges. In this chapter, enabling technologies and their benefits are discussed to provide a comprehensive overview of the transition to smart manufacturing.
