Smart Robotics and Applications Using Data Analytics—Present and Future Directions

This chapter explores the integration of smart robotics and data analytics in modern manufacturing, examining past advancements and future directions in intelligent robotic systems. With the adoption of smart manufacturing, robotic equipment has evolved from simple automation tools to sophisticated, adaptive systems powered by artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and data analytics. Key technologies such as industrial manipulators, collaborative robots, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have transformed production environments, enhancing efficiency and customization. The review details how AI-driven data analytics enables autonomous decision-making in real-time, integrating cyber-physical systems in an interconnected ecosystem known as Industry 4.0. The chapter discusses existing research, methodologies, and applications in robotic learning, as well as challenges and potential research pathways. Emphasis is placed on how the Internet of Robotic Things (IoRT) will shape future manufacturing landscapes, enhancing interoperability and enabling more autonomous and precise robotic interventions across various industries.
