Vehicle stability and handling play a crucial role in automotive performance and safety. Advanced chassis assistance systems (ACASs) have significantly contributed to improving stability and handling, including electronic stability control (ESC), traction control (TC), anti-lock braking system (ABS), and torque vectoring (TV). In recent years, TV has emerged as a replacement for ESC and has gained widespread implementation, particularly in electric vehicles (EVs) with independent wheel-motor-drive (IWMD) capabilities. The precise and rapid torque control offered by individual wheel motors allows for the integration of TV with other ACASs. This paper proposes a coordinated torque vectoring control (CTV) system based on yaw rate and sideslip angle tracking for enhancing stability and handling in IWMD EVs through integration with wheel slip control. The performance of the CTV system is validated through a double lane change (DLC) simulation manoeuvre conducted in MATLAB/Simulink. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed CTV approach in improving vehicle stability and handling, highlighting its potential for enhancing the overall driving experience and safety.

摘要
