The Impact of Techno-Overload on Psychological Well-Being: The Moderating Role of Personal Resources
摘要
Technostress, a term used to describe the detrimental effects of technology on employee well-being, is a relatively new and evolving area of research. This chapter examines the relationship, using the job demands-resources (JDR) model, to explore the impact of techno-overload, a dimension of technostress, on employees’ psychological well-being. This study further investigated how psychological capital, a personal resource comprising self-efficacy, hope, optimism, and resilience, moderates this relationship between techno-overload and psychological well-being. The study collected data from 1102 higher education employees using a quantitative approach and a cross-sectional survey design. The results showed that techno-overload had a non-significant relationship with psychological well-being and that hope, optimism, and resilience significantly moderated this relationship. These findings highlight the complex nature of techno-overload and the potential for personal resources to enhance well-being. The chapter concludes by discussing the implications for organisational practices.
