Lessons Learned from Frithjof Bergmann and Salutogenesis in the Digital Age: A Psychobiographical Perspective
摘要
During the past few decades, the digital age has shaped the way humans live; digital devices are on hand from an early age onwards. The methodology used in this chapter is a psychobiography to explore the life and work of Frithjof Bergmann and its impact on salutogenesis in the digital age. In this chapter, the author explores the work and life of philosopher Frithjof Bergmann (1930–2021) whose philosophical and existentialist views on life and work have become the core of the New Work movement. The chapter explores the notion of salutogenesis in the digital age in terms of Bergmann’s life and philosophical ideas. This psychobiographical account presents new ideas on how to live a salutogenic and meaningful (work) life, drawing on existentialist philosophical perspectives as essential tools for envisaging a new, critical and free-spirited way of living in the digital age. Possible lessons to be learnt from Bergmann are presented, together with recommendations for a healthy life in the digital age.
