Court Personnel and IPV Communication
摘要
It is important to begin this introduction with an acknowledgment of the prevailing theme throughout this chapter: that courtroom professionals have unique ethical responsibilities and constraints that significantly impact our recommendations regarding their digital intimate partner violence (IPV) communication to members of the public. This chapter thoroughly describes both these obligations and why it is still possible and even helpful for certain “officers of the court” to maintain a selective and responsible social media presence to provide helpful information on domestic violence. Stringent ethical expectations for professionals within this realm would make any sort of sensationalistic social media posture highly problematic; accordingly, it offers recommendations for tasteful, fair, and legally appropriate digital discussions on IPV. Readers will notice that this book does not recommend the utilization of every platform discussed throughout the book; this is intentional as professionals in this field have unique roles and responsibilities within this sphere, making only a couple of platforms realistic choices for public communications.
