Consumer Protection and E-Commerce Stores in the Digital Age: A Legal Perspective
摘要
This research investigates consumer protection in the realm of e-commerce, emphasizing how online retailers comply with pertinent legislation and safeguard personal data. Given the swift expansion of digital commerce, it is essential to evaluate how effective existing laws are in defending consumers, gauge the degree to which online stores comply with legal and security requirements, and identify the obstacles encountered in the protection of personal information. The findings indicate that consumers are becoming more aware of their legal rights while shopping online, yet they face challenges in grasping certain elements of data and personal information protection. Additionally, the study highlights a notable disparity in the compliance of online stores with legal standards; while some adhere to best practices, others require improvements in their legal conformity. The results suggest that while current laws offer a solid foundation for consumer protection, they need revisions to keep up with the rapid advancements in e-commerce and contemporary technologies. Challenges in personal data protection persist, as adequate measures are not consistently implemented to ensure the security of data gathered by vendors. Furthermore, it is essential to bolster the mechanisms for addressing violations concerning information and online products to guarantee swift and effective resolutions and remedies. Drawing from these insights, the study presents suggestions to enhance consumer protection and e-commerce platforms, such as raising awareness regarding consumer rights, improving compliance with regulations among online retailers, updating laws to align with technological progress, enhancing measures for personal data protection, and fortifying response systems for infractions. The goal of these suggestions is to improve security and reliability within e-commerce, fostering the creation of a secure and trustworthy shopping atmosphere for all stakeholders involved.
