Technologies such as chatbots and artificial intelligence (AI) present opportunities to automate numerous tasks within social security frameworks; however, it raises the critical question of which tasks are suitable for automation and where human interaction remains vital. The research zeroes in on the implications of these technologies within social security systems, especially in more advanced economies. Utilizing a qualitative methodology, the study incorporates descriptive and analytical techniques to assess literature, case studies, and policy documents. It underscores the managerial challenges of achieving a balance between automation and human involvement to enhance efficiency, service quality, and citizen empowerment. Additionally, the research investigates how these technological innovations impact social security beneficiaries, who are increasingly regarded as lifelong clients. The findings offer both theoretical and empirical perspectives on the evolving landscape of e-government, social security policy, and citizen empowerment. Ultimately, the study presents a refreshed viewpoint on how socio-technical systems in social security can foster the creation of more efficient, user-focused public services while ensuring a balance between automation and human discretionary decision-making.
