Extensive knowledge of both the legal systems and terminology in the source and target languages is crucial in the specialized field of legal translation to guarantee precision. This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis between Arabic legal texts and their English translations, specifically focusing on excerpts from El-Farahaty’s book Arabic–English–Arabic Legal Translation (2015). Despite the paramount importance of accuracy in legal translations, certain errors were identified in some of the translations presented in this book. These errors encompassed over-translation, omission of key terms, inappropriate word choices, superficial translations, misunderstandings, literal translations, punctuation mistakes, and grammatical errors. To address these challenges, it is essential to employ Newmark’s (1998) proper translation method, which ensures faithfulness to the original text and accuracy in legal translations. The findings of this study underscore the necessity of meticulous review and consultation with experts to achieve a well-executed legal translation.
