The Effect of Changing Murabaha Rates on the Financial Performance of the Islamic Banks Listed on a Stock Exchange
摘要
The study seeks to investigate the influence of fluctuations in Murabaha rates on the financial performance of Islamic banks that are listed on the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE). To achieve this objective, a descriptive analytical approach is employed. The researchers collected data on the independent variable, which is the Murabaha rates, and measured the dependent variable, financial performance, using two indicators: Return on financial assets and return on equity. The data is collected from three Islamic banks (Arab Islamic Bank, Jordan Islamic Bank, and Safwa Islamic Bank) during the financial period from 2019 to 2022. The annual financial reports issued by these Jordanian Islamic banks listed on the ASE were reviewed for data collection purposes. The findings of the study revealed that there is indeed an impact of changing Murabaha rates on the financial performance of Islamic banks, as indicated by the two indicators. It is recommended, in light of the results, that Jordanian Islamic banks develop standardized formulas for Murabaha financing that align with the principles of Islamic banking, while also considering the needs of customers who require financing.
