Persistent fetal vasculature (PFV), previously known as persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous, is a result of failed regression of the embryological primary vitreous and hyaloid vasculature. PFV does not change after birth, but the tractional force it creates increases as the eye grows, causing complications that affect both the child’s vision and appearance, including glaucoma, cataract, intraocular hemorrhage, retinal detachment (RD), and phthisis bulbi.

摘要

Persistent fetal vasculature (PFV), previously known as persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous, is a result of failed regression of the embryological primary vitreous and hyaloid vasculature. PFV does not change after birth, but the tractional force it creates increases as the eye grows, causing complications that affect both the child’s vision and appearance, including glaucoma, cataract, intraocular hemorrhage, retinal detachment (RD), and phthisis bulbi.
