In this work, we present the main results derived from the analysis of an airborne geophysical investigation combined with field geological data to study the main structures and subsurface bodies of the Boulemane region. This area is located at the central part of the Middle Atlas belt (Morocco), corresponding to the NE trending branch of the Triassic Atlas basin, inverted during Africa-Eurasia Cenozoic plate convergence. Our results show that this area is dominated by NE-SW, NW-SE, and N-S structural directions. The NE-SW trending structures are the dominant orientations and are considered to correspond to the orientations of the main faults (i.e., strong lithological contrast between the different series). The NW-SE regional trend is consistent with transverse faults and the termination of synclines separated by anticlinal ridges. N-S trending lineaments correspond to the extension of the main N-S faults breaking the Tabular Middle Atlas into several blocks. The high magnetic intensity anomalies are aligned along the main direction of middle atlas structures and coincide with Guigou plain Plio-Quaternary basaltic flows at the northern part of the study region. Alternatively, positive anomalies might be related to the Tichoukt ridge, which can be linked to Triassic basalts or Jurassic gabbroic intrusions, like those of the central High Atlas. The synclines show a lower magnetic intensity, consistent with the thick sedimentary series of filling basin depocenters.
