The formation and dissociation of gas hydrates can be considered as alternative solution for several industrial applications; among them, the separation of gas mixtures into single species. It depends on the different phase equilibrium conditions of the system, depending on the specific guest species present into the hydrate lattice. In case of mixtures, the partial pressure of each species must be considered. This study explores the possibility of treating natural gas mixtures and, based on the concentration of the various gas species and on the pressure–temperature conditions fixed for the process, discussed the expected results and their feasibility.

摘要

The formation and dissociation of gas hydrates can be considered as alternative solution for several industrial applications; among them, the separation of gas mixtures into single species. It depends on the different phase equilibrium conditions of the system, depending on the specific guest species present into the hydrate lattice. In case of mixtures, the partial pressure of each species must be considered. This study explores the possibility of treating natural gas mixtures and, based on the concentration of the various gas species and on the pressure–temperature conditions fixed for the process, discussed the expected results and their feasibility.
