The mounting global urbanization threat to food security prompts an exploration of urban agriculture’s potential. This abstract investigates the scalability of urban gardening techniques to combat food scarcity, poverty, and unemployment. Through literature and case study analysis, key elements of urban agriculture, including production, flow, resilience, and food security, are identified. Studies in Central Uganda and Kenya underscore the positive impact on employment, income, and nutrition. Despite challenges, success stories from the Global South highlight urban agriculture’s benefits, addressing food security and broader urban issues. The research advocates for tailored policies supporting urban agriculture to enhance sustainable development.
