A Study and Analysis of External Linguistic Influence on the Persian Language and Its Vocabulary
摘要
Language functions as a dynamic lexical system subject to ongoing semantic shifts. Semantic studies focus on the evolution and transformation of word meanings across multiple dimensions. A key factor in the semantic development of a language’s vocabulary is its extra, non-grammatical supports. Predominantly, these supports stem from human interactions within various social and cultural contexts. In this regard, language not only facilitates communication but also grows and diversifies through these interactions. The main objective of this study is to explore and analyze the impact of sociocultural phenomena as critical extra-linguistic competence in semantic evolution, as well as in the enhancement and recognition of vocabulary. This descriptive-analytical research, through a systematic examination of relevant theories and studies, demonstrates that diverse socio-cultural phenomena such as community engagement, interactions among different speakers, cultural transmission, mass media influence, educational initiatives, new technologies, artistic endeavors, and participation in interlingual symposiums, festivals, and conferences play significant roles in enriching and fortifying the lexical systems of languages and their semantic comprehension. These elements are identified as non-grammatical supports of a language and foundational to the semantic understanding of the lexical framework. Ultimately, this paper aims to provide an in-depth analysis and exploration of linguistic interactions and the influence of socio-cultural phenomena on broadening discourse and linguistic comprehension by integrating approaches from linguistics, sociolinguistics, and cultural studies. The study underscores “language” as a crucial social construct and the primary medium for human communication and interactions, supported by various platforms that facilitate growth and expansion. Acknowledging these supports enhances linguistic elements and semantic knowledge, and also promotes increased interactions and communications among diverse speakers.
