Using the NTP Protocol to Synchronize Gas Pipeline Cathodic Protection Stations
摘要
The article is devoted to the use of network technologies for time synchronization of processes for checking the integrity of the Latvian cathodic protection system for underground gas pipelines. Based on the results of the analysis of network time protocols, NTP was selected. Static estimates of ping latency and jitter latency were obtained when using an NTP server in real conditions, taking into account the location of cathodic protection stations in the city of Riga. These assessments showed the possibility of using the NTP protocol to solve the problem of synchronization of devices in a cathodic protection system. The test bench was created to simulate the synchronization of control devices of gas pipeline cathodic protection stations. Time deviation distributions are given for wireless and wired synchronization modes.
