Changes in Work Organization After the Covid-19 Pandemic in Companies in Latvia
摘要
The development of information and communication technologies (ICT), as well as the Covid-19 pandemic observed in recent years and the related work restrictions, have led to various changes in work organisation processes not only in the world, but also in companies in Latvia. Over the last 20 years, there has been a trend for employees to increasingly move to remote working. This trend has increased with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, when in many organisations an increasing proportion of staff tried or were forced to work from home. Given the changes in work organisation brought about by the pandemic, this paper analyses secondary data on the impact of the pandemic on work organisation, as well as a number of surveys and data analyses between 2021 and spring 2023. The aim of the studies carried out is to investigate the impact of Covid-19 and the resulting crisis on work organisation in small and medium-sized enterprises in Latvia. In order to achieve the research objective, an online survey (CAWI) of Latvian entrepreneurs was conducted in cooperation with the research company RAIT Custom Research Baltic within a panel of entrepreneurs and business managers. The results of the survey indicate that Covid-19 has had an impact on the organisation of business processes, with changes in the way work is done in person being replaced by remote working. Similarly, changes in work organisation have altered the internal rules of procedure and the organisation of meetings in companies, with more of them being organised online. Workload has also changed and the use of IT solutions in work organisation has increased.
