Saintly Life of the Blessed Lady Rickeldey Named Gertrude, and the Great Wonders that Our Dear Lord Accomplished with Her
摘要
The Saintly Life of the Blessed Lady Rickeldey Named Gertrude is a late-medieval text which tells the life story of a woman living a religious life outside of formal institutions, devoted to God in her own home. The text may have been written by a woman of Gertrude’s circle, and the material drawn from direct conversations with Gertrude’s long-time companion, Heilke, who also appears as a character in the Life. This text describes Gertrude’s penance, mystical raptures, and offerings of advice and intercessory prayer. It survives in one manuscript, Brussels KBR MS 8507–8509, copied by the Dominican sisters of Saint Nicholas in Undis, Strasbourg.
