Martín de Cordórba, Jardín de las nobles doncellas (Garden of Noble Maidens)
摘要
At the end of the reign of Enrique IV of Trastámara, two women had the possibility of becoming queen of Castile, Isabel the Catholic and Joanna of Castille. The genre of speculum principis (Mirror for princes) was certainly developed with notable books oriented toward princes as they prepared to become kings, but not necessarily a princess, a future queen. In the 1460s and 1470s, that became an issue in Castile. Different authors took charge of creating such new texts. Among them was friar Martín de Córdoba, whose Jardín de nobles doncellas served the double purpose of instructing the future queen Isabel and defending her right to the throne.
