Unknown to history, Florencia Pinar was probably a female poet who lived in Spain during the second half of the fifteenth century. Four poems attributed to Florencia are found in the Cancionero general recopilado por Hernando del Castillo (General songbook compiled by Hernando del Castillo). These four poems reveal Florencia’s ability to skillfully manipulate literary imagery and enlist her as one of the most important female writers of the Spanish Middle Ages.
