Elsbeth Stagel
摘要
Elsbeth Stagel (ca. 1300–1360) was a well-educated Dominican nun famous for her correspondence with German mystic Henry Suso and for authoring the Sister-Book of Töss. Stagel intended the Sister-Book to be a record of the graces bestowed on her sisters by God so that others might learn from their examples. Scholarship on Stagel has focused on whether or not she authored any of the texts attributed to her and even questioned whether she ever existed as a person. More recently, it has been asserted that the works in question were written collaboratively by Stagel and Suso, or Stagel and the sisters of Töss, respectively.
