Wallāda bint al-Mustakfi ( c. 1010– c. 1090), a poet and princess of eleventh-century Córdoba, was at the center of a noted social circle. She both wrote about her most famous lover, the poet Ibn Zaydūn, and was the subject of his and others’ writing. Her life and writing shed light on courtly life during a time of political and cultural turbulence in medieval Spain.
