Sir Orfeo
摘要
Sir Orfeo is a Middle English Breton lay that retells the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Set within the context of late medieval England and the culture of the time, the tale begins with the traumatic abduction of Heurodis, the Eurydice figure, by a terrifying fairy king. After 10 years of wandering in the wilderness with only his harp for comfort, Orfeo gains entry to the Otherworld and successfully petitions the king for Heurodis’ release.
