Dame Juliana Berners has been the attributed author to the Book of St. Albans, a fifteenth century and then much reprinted guide to hunting, fishing, and hawking, which also contained information on coats of arms, blazons, and collective nouns. This entry considers what little we know about Berners and what it means to attribute this text to a woman.
