Kassia
摘要
Kassia or Kassiane (also found as Kassiani, Casia, Icasia) (c.810–865) was a Byzantine abbess and hymnographer. She was born in Constantinople, likely to an aristocratic family. As a result, by her early teens, Kassia would have received a classical Greek education, including the study of scripture, patristic classics, sacred music, poetry, and meter. She is recognized as a Saint in the Orthodox Church, venerated on September 7th.
