The Impact of Migration on Brand Consumption in India: A Qualitative Study
摘要
This research takes a unique approach by investigating the brand selection behavior of Indian migrants based on their social and occupational orientation. The Indian diaspora, one of the largest and most diverse in the country, sees a significant number of people migrating to with-border metro cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Surat, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, etc. and some other states for education, employment, and better living standards. This migration has led to significant changes in their lifestyles and consumption patterns, including their brand preferences. Using a technique known as instrumental case analysis, we collect and analyse case-based data at the household level from Indian families spread throughout several locations. In rural door-to-door sales, we demonstrate how including migration data may improve marketing resource allocation across villages and provide insights for house targeting. The purpose of this study is to investigate how migration impacts brand consumption and preferences among Indian migrants. Our findings, compared to a variety of policy-based instruments, hold up, and they are easily generalisable to the total amount of money spent on their children’s education. This comparison examined the amount of money spent on brand items before and after the migration event.
