Data analytics enables managers to get useful insights, make sound decisions, and drive organizational success. However, neither practitioners nor academics appear to have a clear understanding of the function of data analytics in postgraduate marketing education. The purpose of this study is to investigate the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) that are uniquely required in marketing curricula. Based on previous research and suggestions from interviews with marketing faculty, placement officers, business professionals, and digital marketers, this study identifies a set of potential KSAs—incremental to modern marketing knowledge—that can help marketers succeed in the evolving data-driven decision-making environment. Professionals recommend a higher percentage of emphasis on data analytics, software exposure, writing and communication, and AI applications, whereas marketing faculty prefer a significantly higher focus on foundational marketing knowledge in comparison to these two KSA categories, namely Holistic Marketing and Market Research. Furthermore, we present the findings of a poll of business professionals on potential categories of existing marketing topics to deemphasize, hence creating possibilities to more comprehensively integrate additional KSAs into the marketing curriculum.
