Digital Divide and GeoAI
摘要
This chapter delves into the dimensions of the digital divide specific to Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI). GeoAI, which integrates geospatial data with artificial intelligence techniques, holds transformative potential for various sectors. In the era of GeoAI, the divide is increasingly characterized by disparities in digital literacy, technical know-how, data access, and computational resources. Yet, the uneven distribution of GeoAI benefits risks exacerbating existing social and economic inequalities. We explore how the digital divide may be further widened by the demands of GeoAI, emphasizing the need for high-quality data, advanced computational power, and specialized skills. By shedding light on the complex nature of the digital divide in the GeoAI era, this chapter aims to propose strategies that foster inclusive and equitable access to GeoAI technologies. Our goal is to ensure that the transformative potential of GeoAI can be harnessed by a broader segment of society, ultimately contributing to a more just and equitable world.
