Germany
摘要
This chapter discusses and contextualises the results of the 2024 European Parliament election in Germany. It examines the run-up to the election and its repercussions both in a national and a European context, while also taking into consideration dynamics of regional and social fragmentation as well as regional election cycles coinciding with, and influencing, the German 2024 EP election. The chapter sheds light on the unfolding and consequences of the most recent EP election in the homeland of the Spitzenkandidaten process, putting into perspective the role played by these lead candidates alongside national political actors and the electorate’s perception of them. It discusses key issues and the political dynamics shaping the campaigns and election outcomes.
