Introduction
摘要
June 2024 saw the tenth set of elections to the European Parliament (EP) take place across the 27 member states. The first such elections post-Brexit were held against a context of war on European soil and the rise of right-wing populism and misinformation. This chapter puts the elections into context, outlining the numbers of seats held by each member state, the outcome of the 2024 elections and political balance in the new EP. It then provides an outline to the rest of this Handbook, covering Part One, which covers supranational aspects of the elections, and Part Two, which offers in-depth analysis of the elections in each member state.
