In the era of technological advancement being the main propeller for economic progress, digitalization has been and is expected to become increasingly relevant in terms of trade activities. The incorporation of digital technologies in these operations provide new grounds for an efficient operational performance, improving productivity and the possibility to enter global markets. The use of e-commerce, CRM systems and digital marketing strategies are particularly important for the effective functioning retail business. Research goal the aim of the research is to investigate opportunities and threats related with digitalization in modern business. The paper studies the influence of digital solutions implementation on enterprise management quality, competitiveness and development strategies. This includes technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data and automated management systems that help the company monitor market movements in real-time so they can react quickly to changes. Finally, the article reviews case studies of digital strategy which performed well and those that failed among retailers. Enterprises find it problematic since implementing new technologies involve a heavy investment, preservation of cybersecurity and team preparedness for these conditions. With SMEs having limited resources for digitalization, that could make them less competitive in the market. The results of the study corroborate that a holistic digitalization strategy that combines investments in new technologies, employee training, omnichannel solutions and cybersecurity systems are central to making firms more competitive on national markets as well for their long-term prosperity. As changes and competition get more active, the need for digital tools is no longer just a way to optimize processes but an important factor in keeping up with market players.
